Ear stapling has been around for over two decades. In my opinion, it is a combination of auriculotherapy and acupressure. I call it staple puncture or acupressure with stapling because it is a variation of auriculotherapy that places the staple at key ear pressure points to target weight loss, stress, tension, migraines, and smoking cessation.
Auriculotherapy or ear puncture utilizes the body's ‘micro system’ of the ear to treat certain parts of the body. It has been shown scientifically that different points in the ear demonstrate higher electrical conductivity when their related organ or tissue is stressed, unbalanced, or diseased. Through treatment of such points, energy flow is theorized to be enhanced to this area of the body. This increase of energy to an area of imbalance will potentially result in improvement in the physical as well as energetic state of body.
What is Acu~Fast
A tiny surgical stainless steel staple that is placed in the middle cartilage of the ear between specific pressure points to target weight loss, stress, tension, smoking cessation and other problems affecting the body.
How Does It Work?
The staple provides a continuous pressure to specific points in the ear. It sends a signal to your brain telling it your stomach is full or can cause a strong distaste for tobacco, depending on what point the staple is placed.
How Long Does It Last?
It can last from 6 weeks to 2 months. It varies from one person to the other. Your body will get used to the stimulus on the point after a certain amount of time. Also the risk of infection is reduced by removeing the staple promtly.
What Is the Average Weight Loss?
For women, 1-4 pounds a week and men 1-4 pounds.
Does It Hurt?
It is similar to having your ears pierced. There is a slight burning/stinging sensation, but it subsides very quickly.
What's The Difference Of Getting One Staple Versus Two?
It is believed that one ear is more effective than the other, but there is no way to know for sure which one. I used to suggest two but over the years I have found out that it is better to have one staple. The reason is simple. You always sleep on your side and it is better to not put any pressure on the staple. This way you always have a side free. Also after 6 to 8 weeks I just change ears. I like the results better this way.
What If The Staple Isn't Working?
The staple is effective over 90% of the time. I tell all of my clients to give it one full week, if they truly see no results to come in within 10 days of placement and I will reposition the staples at no charge. If it does not work the second time then this most likely is not the plan for them.
What If One Becomes Loose?
If it is no later than 10 days after placement, I will replace the staple at no charge.
What Are The Risks?
Infection is the biggest risk. If you follow your after care instructions and keep the area clean and dry, and do not touch your staples, you will have little chance of the ear becoming infected. Scarring can also occur, but the chances are very slim because the staple I use is very small.
There are said to be over 700 different auricular points on the ear. I of course do not target all of those. I concentrate on certain pressure points that target appetite, stress, tension, IBS, gastric reflux and cravings. When you come in for your appointment I will go over these specific pressure points in detail with a diagram.
The majority of my clients come to me for the weight loss staple, which at this time, Acu~Fast has a 90% success rate.
There are numerous reasons to have the staple placed; weight loss, migraines, stress, smoking cessation, chronic back pain and digestive imbalances. Everyone is different regarding the anatomy of their ears; there are no two alike, including your left and right ear. I will assess each person as an individual and will try to meet your specific needs regarding the ear staple. Please know, the staple will affect what your body needs most. For example, you may lose inches at first then pounds. You may sleep better than you ever have, be less tense and not lose weight at first. The staple targets many areas, so you may feel the staple isn't working because you are not losing weight, but it really is, it is targeting what your body needs first.
